Borrowing items from FSPL

The Fort Saskatchewan Public Library has a wide variety of materials available including books, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays and audiobooks for all ages, special formats including large print and DAISY format audiobooks, as well as magazines. Resident cardholders have access to online resources, including eBooks, digital movies, and online research tools.

You are responsible for your card and the items that you borrow. Please inform us immediately if your card is stolen or lost. If you lose or damage materials, you’ll be charged for their replacement. If you have more than $15 in fees on your account, you can no longer borrow materials. Please visit us to make a payment.

Do multiple members of your family have library cards? Try out Library Elf! Library Elf is a library account management service that allows you to monitor checkouts and holds within your family and across different libraries. Library Elf offers text, email and RSS alerts for holds.

Effective January 1, 2016, library cards are FREE for residents and nonresidents. Cards renew annually to update contact information.

Loans, charges and card limits

Below are rules for borrowing items in the library.

Loans

3 weeks for books, audiobooks, language tapes, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays. 1 week for magazines. You may renew items up to 3 times if they are not requested by another person.

1 week for Bestseller and AV Express items, no renewals.

 

Charges

Library fines have been eliminated on the general collection!

Bestseller Express items have a $1.00 per day overdue fine to a maximum of $10.00, at that point the item is considered lost. Charges for lost/damaged items still stand and vary depending on the item.

 

Card Limits

100 items per card. Item Limits on one card at any time:

  • Audio Books – 20
  • DVDs and Blu-rays (combined limit) – 20
  • CDs – 20
  • Magazines – 20
  • Languages Kits – 5
  • Bestseller Express – 1
  • AV Express – 1
