An exciting, edge of your seat book, “The Martian” by Andy Weir details the trials and tribulations of fictional astronaut Mark Watney who is mistakenly left for dead and stranded on Mars. One side of the story is Mark: with all odds against him, he uses his math, engineering and science skills to survive in a harsh, alien, and deadly environment. His positive attitude, hard working nature and great sense of humor are tested again and again. Mark learns to overcome challenge after challenge through a multitude of gut-wrenching and hilarious trial and error situations.
The other side of this compelling saga are those working on Earth and in space to get Mark home, most importantly his former crew. They are horrified to realize that he is still alive and alone on Mars. Using their own wits, they aid in the efforts to save him. This is a fast-paced, believable space adventure that appeals to everyone, set in the present day. With a truly likeable character you will be invested in Mark’s incredible journey.
