Published in 2018, this book has something for everyone: interesting characters, beautiful landscapes, romance, and even murder.

Growing up in the marshes of North Carolina, young Kya Clark is slowly abandoned one by one, as each member of her family moves away. She is left to survive completely alone in the harsh, unforgiving environment where Mother Nature becomes her caretaker and guardian. She befriends a local couple who do what they can to help her when she ventures into town, but mostly Kya is ignored and referred to as the “Marsh Girl”.

As the years pass, she becomes more and more reclusive, yet her haunting beauty draws in two different men. A thoughtful, kind young man who wants to have a life with her but is not sure she could ever live outside the marsh. The towns “it” boy also discovers her. He is handsome, popular, and seemingly able to accept the only life she has ever known.

Filled with unique prose, and beautiful descriptions, this popular book is well worth the read.

Available as an eBook and an eAudiobook on Overdrive. Read more about the book here.
