About the Art Gallery

Bringing the Library to Life With Art!

We are thrilled to showcase the talents of our community’s artists while supporting both local creativity and our Library.

Our gallery will feature a diverse array of artwork throughout the year, ranging from paintings and photographs to mixed media pieces. Each piece is available for purchase, providing an opportunity for art enthusiasts to bring a piece of local talent into their offices or homes.

What makes our gallery unique is our commitment to supporting artists and our Library’s mission. When a piece is sold, the Library receives a 20% donation from the sale. This not only helps sustain our library’s operations but enables us to continue providing valuable resources and programming to the community.

For local artists, this partnership offers a platform to showcase their work to a wider audience and potentially generate income from their art. It fosters a supportive environment where artists can thrive and connect with art lovers in the community.

If you are interested in having your art showcased in the Library, please email kgrahn@fspl.ca.

The current art display will be available for viewing and purchase until May 2026. If you’re interested in purchasing a piece or have any inquiries, please speak to the staff at the front desk. We’re excited to share the talents of our local artists with you and invite you to explore the beauty and creativity in the Library!

Current Artists - Society of Fort Saskatchewan Artists: Amanda Milke, Margaret Booker, Pearl Bothamley, Sheila Bampton, Petra Jensen

Bio- Amanda Milke

Amanda Milke is a self-taught artist who grew up in Moncton, New Brunswick.  She is a mixed-media artist who draws her inspiration from her life and faith.  She creates primarily in acrylic, watercolor, fiber art and print making.  Her humanity studies helped shape her artistic style and brings a depth to her artwork by adding a symbolic narrative expressed in each piece.  She has developed a distinct style that creates strong bold compositions that are created by using a variety of materials, making techniques, bright colors, and rich textures.

She has exhibited her work around Alberta and has sold her paintings to collectors around the world.  She is President for the Society of Fort Saskatchewan Artists and teaches public and private Art classes out of her home art studio.  Amanda currently resides in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta (Canada) with her husband and two daughters.

Bio- Petra Jensen

I live in Fort Saskatchewan with my husband and three giant dogs.  My children are adults and one of them has her own children now.

I started painting almost twenty-two years ago, when a friend decided I needed to get out and attend a painting lesson.  At the time, I had a really good laugh at her and almost didn’t go since I couldn’t even draw a stick person.  To make a long story short, after that lesson I was hooked and kept on painting.  My medium of choice was oil then.  I have recently started with a few acrylics and plan on trying my luck with water colors I the future.  My favorite things to paint are any animals, and most of all portraits.  I love painting loved ones who have passed and gift them to their families.  This includes the families of Constable David Wynn and the Humboldt Broncos.

I’ve just recently started painting again and joined the Fort Saskatchewan Art Society.  I’m glad I did because I forgot how much I love to paint.   I hope you enjoy my little selection of art.  Thanks for dropping by!

Bio- Sheila Bampton

Sheila Bampton is a self-taught artist who grew up in Moncton, New Brunswick.  She dove into the world of creating after she retired from years working as an Educational Assistant in the New Brunswick school system.  Upon retiring she moved in with her family in Fort Saskatchewan to spend her retirement enjoying time with her two granddaughters.

Sheila enjoys working in Needle felting creating scenes inspired by nature painter her art with natural wool roving as her medium.  She also creates needle felted ornaments, bookmarks, and felted soap.  When she’s not creating she enjoys working on puzzles, spending time with her dog Maya and enjoying her family.  She is currently serving as the treasurer for the Society of Fort Saskatchewan Artists.
