Darling Rose Gold

Home > FSPL Blog > Review: Darling Rose Gold

This book is definitely a psychological thriller. It has twists, turns and interesting, odd characters. Darling Rose Gold is inspired by the real life Munchausen by Proxy story of Gypsy Rose Lee and Dee Dee Blanchard. The story of this mother/daughter duo alternates from both of their perspectives spanning several years.

Darling Rose Gold begins with the mother, Patty, being released from serving five years in prison for abusing her daughter Rose Gold.

Rose Gold comes to the prison to pick her mother up with her young son in tow. Patty is happy her daughter has forgiven her since testifying against her five years ago and is ready for a fresh start. They agree that Patty will move in with Rose Gold and her son temporarily and Patty is happy that it is all working out. Patty begins to question the fresh start when Rose Gold takes them to the house that Patty was raised and experienced an abusive childhood in. Rose Gold announces that she has purchased it and is seemingly oblivious to Patty’s discomfort.

It quickly becomes apparent that neither woman trusts each other, they are both manipulative and deceptive, and there is definitely an end game.

Creepy and edgy, this book is worth a read!
