Another review written by Tania & Sue that was featured in the local paper on April 6. Great job, ladies!

Published in 2012, “Wild” by Cheryl Strayed is a memoir well worth a read. When Cheryl was only 22 years old, her mother tragically passed away. In the midst of her grief, Cheryl makes some unwise life choices and spins out of control. Hearing about the Pacific Coast Trail, and with little to no hiking or wilderness training, she ventures out on the Trail for a life changing experience.

As Cheryl’s hike progresses, she reflects on her life and her choices. The reader becomes immersed in her thoughts and her mental and physical difficulties. There are brutally sore feet, dangerous situations, and fascinating people along the trail. With only her mind for company, she begins to reflect on what brought her there and where she can go. This is a memoir about independence, grief, forgiveness, and how, no matter how difficult life gets, there is always a sunrise waiting for you, if you are willing to walk towards it.

“Wild” is available as an ebook through Overdrive.
