The largest of its kind in Canada, the collection represents 24 BPAA (Book Publisher’s Association of Alberta) member publishers. And the collection will expand, as PLSB will continue funding the growth of the collection over the coming years.
Genres include: literary fiction, graphic novels, poetry, drama, mystery, memoir, biography, self-help, humour, scholarly, young adult and speculative fiction.
Print copies of many of the titles are also available from library branches.
The BPAA has partnered with the Alberta government to make over 1,000 Alberta-published eBooks available to library patrons across the government. Alberta Municipal Affairs’ Public Library Services Branch (PLSB) has invested over $200,000 in this groundbreaking project.
The BPAA and its member publishers are grateful to the Alberta government for this much-needed investment in a critical provincial industry. Since 2004, many of Alberta’s professional book publishers have relocated, sold their assets out of the province or shut down entirely.
New for the Alberta eBooks collection is the Prairie Indigenous eBook Collection! Bringing together over 200 titles from publishers in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta and the first of its kind in Canada!
