Our library is connected to libraries throughout Alberta and Canada, working together to give you access to what you want. And we always welcome suggestions for purchasing an item to add to our library. Just click on "Suggest a Purchase" and fill out the form!

The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Service attempts to get materials you need from other libraries’ collections. Please check the FSPL Library Catalogue before placing any requests.

Please note:

  • Relais D2D has been launched and this is the new system for requesting an Interlibrary Loan item.
  • Items from the Strathcona County Library can be requested by placing a hold on items in the FSPL Library’s Catalogue.
  • Requests are accepted from all customers with a valid Fort Saskatchewan Public Library card in good standing. You must use your own card when you request an interlibrary loan.
  • Items published within the past year cannot be requested. If you would like FSPL to purchase the item, please see “Suggest a Purchase” for more details.
  • Requests are limited to 10 items per patron at a given time.
  • Depending on the material, an interlibrary loan may take 3 to 6 weeks to obtain.

Interlibrary Loan Request Form

The Fort Saskatchewan Public Library welcomes suggestions for the purchase of new books and audio visual material. All suggestions will be evaluated, and you will be notified whether we are able to purchase the item for the collection. Fill out the form below with as much information about the item as possible so we can best serve you.

Recommendation Form

When you request a TAL card at your home library, you can borrow materials in person from any participating TAL library, including academic and government libraries. You can return materials at any participating TAL library. Note that certain special collections may not be available through the TAL program. Loan periods and overdue fines may vary by library – ask the borrowing library for more information about their policies.

The ME Libraries services allows you to borrow materials in person at any public library in Alberta using your local library card. Sign up at melibraries.ca.

Patrons using ME Libraries accounts to borrow items* agree to the following terms:

  • Fees, loan periods, renewals and borrowing limits vary depending on the individual library’s local policies.
  • In general, books have a loan period of 3 weeks, A/V materials have a loan period of 1 week. Some materials have extended loan periods including Book Club kits which have a 6 week loan period.
  • Overdue fines range from $0.05/day to $0.25/day for books and $0.25/day to $2.00/day for A/V materials. Ask the library you visit about their fine rates.
  • Many libraries do not limit the number of items that can be checked out at a time. Some exceptions do exist for special collections.
  • Holds placed by ME Libraries card users must be picked up by the user at the library the item originates from.
  • CNIB materials may only be checked out by borrowers with print disabilities.

*ebooks and other electronic content are not available to ME Libraries card users due to licensing restrictions.
